In order to maintain a success record, The Vice President Kashim Shettima has emphasized that the federal government will sustain its cooperation with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) to ensure the successful organization of the upcoming Summits.

Shettima promised the attendees and the business community that the Green Book recommendations will be implemented in accordance with government priorities during his closing remarks at the 30th Economic Summit in Abuja on Wednesday.

“Let me assure you that the Government will continue collaborating with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group to organise future Summits. While we await the Green Book recommendations, I assure all participants, including business community members, that we shall align such recommendations with Government priorities for implementation”, he said.

The vice president noted that government’s engagements since the Summit opened on Monday “have been enriching and rewarding, particularly with the speech of the Vice President of the World Bank Group, Mr Indermit Gill, who admonished us to stay the course in the implementation of the current reforms”.

Along with being thrilled that some State Governors, Ministers, and other high-ranking officials as well as captains of industry actively participated in this year’s Summit, he expressed his excitement over the candid conversations and candid submissions made by the panellists during the plenaries.

The vice president expressed happiness that participation in the annual Summit brought together professionals from various fields, deepening and expanding citizen ownership and collaboration in the creation of public policy.

“This indicates that all stakeholders are committed to working closely with the government to take collaborative action for growth, competitiveness, and stability”, he added.

Shettima pointed out that from the inception of the present administration, “we understood and accepted that partnership with the private sector was essential for the country’s economic growth and development. Over the last three days, this summit has facilitated deep and meaningful conversations among public, private, and civil society leaders.”

He said, “Together, we have created an environment of mutual respect and dialogue. This understanding has informed our engagement with the Summit process, which has generated many policy recommendations for government actions”

The 30th Summit, he said, was a great success, just like the previous ones, not because so many delegates attended but rather because the main topics that will direct our economic development and growth were covered in both plenary and concurrent sessions.

“I am confident this year’s Summit report will articulate the critical issues exhaustively discussed in the various sessions, especially the Interactive Panel sessions, Expert Forums, High-Level Panels, CEO Roundtable sessions, and Insight Sessions.

“It is clear that implementing the current administration’s priorities, particularly the eight priority areas enumerated in the Renewed Hope Agenda, which is the administration’s strategy for repositioning the economy for macroeconomic stability, growth, and development, requires the support of all Nigerians.

“Therefore, I urge the leadership of the States, private sector, CSOs, and Development partners to join hands with the Federal Government to actualise the inclusive future we envisage and a Nigeria that works for all”, the vice president further noted.
