NNPP protesters dare police order, hit Kano streets

Against the police order, banning street protests in Kano, dozens of members of the ruling NNPP gathered on Monday in the Government House protesting over the alleged bribery of the Election Tribunal.

DAILY COMMERCE reports that the state commissioner of police, Mohammed Usain Gumel, in a statement on Monday banned protests after members of the NNPP and the APC were seen mobilizing the crowd for protests.

CP Gumel said, “Members of the public should therefore note that it has come to our knowledge that both the APC and the NNPP members are currently mobilizing rented crowd in the guise of Civil Society Coalition and without clearance from the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress and without prior approval from the security agencies in the state.

“Both organizers as well as the umbrella body should note that any attempt to disrespect NLC and the Security Agencies in the state, by playing around the fragile security situation, which the combined security agencies have been managing, is not only uncivil, criminal but also an offense against National Security.”

In defiance to the police order, shortly members of the NNPP protesters converged on the streets with placards.

Some of the placards, DAILY COMMERCE noted, read:

”We will defend our mandate at all cost.”

”APGA we support Abba Administration 2023.”

”Resistance 2023, we will never accept the steal of Abba victory.”
