Minors recovered from traffickers reunite with family in Kano
Seven minors recovered by Kano State Police Command from a syndicate of human traffickers have been reunited with their families at an event held by the State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
DAILY COMMERCE reports that the suspected criminal syndicate, who specialised in trafficking Muslim minors from Northern states to the East and South, were arrested and paraded by police in Kano on Thursday.
A statement by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Spokesperson to the Governor said his principal was deeply dismayed by the discovery of seven children abducted from Bauchi and intercepted at Mariri motor park in Kano while en route to Lagos and Anambra states.
“The Governor urged parents to remain vigilant and attentive to the well-being of their children as a fundamental responsibility.
“He also called upon his counterpart, the Bauchi State Governor, to take decisive legal action against the arrested suspects.

“The Governor also recalled the case of 11 Kano children who were reportedly abducted and sold in Anambra a few years ago,” he said.
Responding, one of the victims parent, Abdulmutallif Saad, expressed his profound to the Governor and the Commissioner of Police, Kano State.
Nine suspects apprehended by the Kano State Police Command were also paraded at the event.
Speaking on behalf of the Bauchi state government, Barrister Sha’awanatu Yusuf, the Director of Public Prosecution at the state Ministry of Justice, called for unity between Kano and Bauchi states against human trafficking and other crimes.
She stated that Bauchi State Government would take necessary legal steps to ensure that the suspects are brought to justice and face the full consequences of the law.
