Police arrest Kano factory worker over colleague’s death

Police in Kano said it has arrested a factory worker of Fas Agro Sacks Company for allegedly killing colleague during a fight at the workplace.

A statement on Sunday from the police said, that fighting erupted between two staff of the Company led to the death of 32-year-old Tukur Adamu of Dango Sharada Ja’in Quarters Kano.

Police spokesperson in Kano, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in the statement added that as a result of the incident, thugs mobilized in large numbers, took advantage of the crisis situation and started looting people’s properties and attempted to set the Company ablaze.

“On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, ordered the immediate deployment of Police Operatives led by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Sharada Division, SP Abdulrahim Adamu to the scene.

“On arrival at the scene, the body was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano where a medical doctor certified the body dead, whereas the suspect, James Isma’il, aged 32 years, ‘m’, was arrested. Similarly, thirteen (13) of the thugs were so far arrested.

“The situation was immediately brought under control and the suspects were transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section for discrete investors.

“The Commissioner of Police assures the residents of diligent investigation, and prosecution and also calls on the good people of the State to avoid taking laws into their hands,” the statement said.
