Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf On Tuesday has launched a N260 million monthly stipend scheme aimed at enhancing the economic wellbeing of 5,200 women from the state’s 44 local government areas.
The government initiative is supporting 5,200 beneficiaries who will receive a stipend of N50,000 each month.
Unveiling the maiden edition of the disbursement at the government house, Yusuf disclosed that the monthly business support was part of his administration’s initiative to uplift the social economic conditions of women.
According to the Governor, 3,600 women are selected from 36 local government areas outside the metropolis while 1,600 are chosen from eight metropolitan area councils to benefit from the support.
Yusuf said that the empowerment was deliberately intended to invest in the future of low income earning families, enable them with means of life and livelihood.

He said compliance committee comprises security, traditional rulers, religious and local government administration will be constituted, while urging the beneficiaries to report any malpractice noticed during disbursement.
“The decision to approve the monthly allowance for women is not only to empower but to strategically invest in the social economic development and future of families in Kano,” Yusuf said.
With N50,000 support to each woman we expect the beneficiaries to grow their small scale business and also help their family. We would sustain this initiative throughout our stay in the office.”
