The Association of Zakat and Waqaf Operators in Nigeria ( AZAWON) under the patronage of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has disbursed N90 million cash in Zakat to deserving beneficiaries in Lafiya district, Wuri Local Government of Jigawa state.
The disbursement was a sideline ceremony of just concluded national conference of organised by AZAWON, held on Saturday in Hadejia.
The Deputy Chairman, Hadejia Emirate Zakat Committee, Sheikh Yusufa Abdurrahman Ya’u, said, “The Zakat items disbursed include 1,560 bags of grains, five cows, and eight sheeps and goats, with a total cash of N90 million.”
“Since we launched the call for Zakat payments, this Ward has consistently been the top contributor, surpassing all other Wards in Zakat donations,” Sheikh Yusufa noted.
Bulama, the District Head, Musa Jambo, attributed the successful distribution of Zakat to the ongoing efforts on awareness campaign mounted by Islamic scholars.

Earlier in his remarks, highlighted the effort urged Muslims to uphold Islamic values and principles, demonstrating a strong commitment to the faith.
“I commend the efforts of our district leaders in promoting the spirit of giving and generosity among our people.” Sultan said.
Governor Malam Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, highlighted the impact of charitable giving, noting that such disbursement would significantly reduce poverty and inequality in the state.
