The candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the just concluded gubernatorial election in Kano State, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has congratulated the victor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP.
The congratulatory message is coming from Gawuna, the Deputy Governor of the State, hours after the electoral umpire presented Abba with the certificate of return on Wednesday.
Gawuna in an audio recorded message, urged his supporters to accept the outcome of the election as an act of God while awaiting INEC’s action on their demand for a review of the election outcome that saw Abba through.
Gawuna, who spoke in his native Hausa, said: ‘’I sincerely appreciates our supporters and well-wishers for coming out en mass to cast their votes for us during the March 18th, gubernatorial election.
‘’We already laid our complaints to the INEC on some inconsistencies in the gubernatorial election outcome. We demanded a review of the results so that election can be reconducted in places where lapses were discovered.
‘’However, today, March 29th, 2023, INEC reconfirmed its earlier announcement of the winner of the gubernatorial election, with the issuance of certificate of return to the NNPP candidate, Abba Kabiru Yusuf.
”Let me remind people that prior to this election, we have prayed to God to give us victory if it will be in the best interest of all otherwise, God Almighty should do the best.”
Dr. Gawuna wished the Governor elect the best while urging his followers to support him and continue being law-abiding citizens.
Meanwhile, the Governor elect has said that his wives and children will not have any role in the governance of the state.
He said, “My wives will not be part of the governance. My children will not be part of the governance. And I can tell you for sure that this is the same for my deputy governor.”
The Governor-elect also called on the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, and other contestants in the March 18 election to join his administration for effective governance of the state.
