Barau welcomes Kano NNPP defectors to APC

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibril, Wednesday welcomed key political figures from the Kano New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) who defected and renounced their membership to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Barau, who expressed delight during the meeting, welcomed the decampees into the largest political party in Africa and assured them that they would be treated fairly and equally as other members of the party.

He said “I received NNPP’s chieftains from Ungogo and Minjibir LGAs of Kano State, who dumped their party earlier today”.

The delegation was led by a former Speaker of the Rimin Gado LGA, Yusuf Umar Zango and other chieftains of the NNPP to the senator’s office, where they announced their exit from the party.

Alhaji Abubakar Tudun Fulani led the decampees from Ungogo, and Alhaji Tukur Minjibir led those from Minjibir LGA.

The representative of the delegation while speaking gave emphasis to the various interventions and people oriented programmes provided by APC as motivation for joining the party. They pledged to support in uplifting the standard of living of their people.

In his remarks, the Caucus chairman of the APC in Rimin Gado, Alhaji Inuwa Danshayi, prayed for divine guidance and upliftment, saying, ” Senator Barau, you are a blessing not only to Kano North Senatorial District or Kano State but the entire country.”

Lastly, he congratulated them for dumping a mushroom political party only known in a few areas in Kano Central Senatorial District for a national and progressive political party.

“With the rush by NNPP chieftains to join the APC, soon it would be not easy to see someone with a red cap in Kano. The days of NNPP in Kano are numbered”. He concluded
