El-Rufai revokes opposition’s 9 properties in Kaduna

Kaduna state governor Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai has approved the revocation of the right of occupancy (RO) of nine properties belonging to Cane Properties, a Kaduna-based company owned by a former governor of the state and the PDP chieftain, Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi.

El-Rufai’s order was informed by the recommendations made to him by the Kaduna Geographical Information Service (KADGIS).

According to a notice of revocation and withdrawal of the right of occupancy served to the officials of the affected properties on Thursday, in Kaduna the affected properties have also been marked for demolition.

A notice to the effect of revocation has served to Ibrahim Makarfi, director of Cane Properties, Plot 11, Murtala Square, Doka.

The noticed signed by the Registrar of Kaduna Geographical Information Service (KADGIS), Mahmud Aminu, listed among the affected properties to include five plots in Mogadishu, three plots on Kwato Road, and one plot at Doka, all within the Kaduna metropolis.

“I have been directed to refer to the above right of occupancy and inform you that His Excellency, Governor of Kaduna State has in the exercise of the power conferred on him under section 28 (5) (a) and (b) of land use act 1978, revoked and withdrawal your rights and continued failure and contravention of covenanted terms and conditions of the right of occupancy,” the notice read.
