Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reduced school fees of the state-owned tertiary institutions by 50 per cent amid economic hardship.
Students in the seven tertiary institutions owned by the state will benefit from the fee reduction, Commissioner for Higher Education, Yusfu Kofar Mata, told journalists on Monday.
He said the Governor gave the approval for immediate implementation of school fees reduction at a meeting he chaired and attended by the heads of the tertiary institutions.
He noted that the measure was necessary in response to the economic challenge facing parents.
With this gesture, DAILY COMMERCE, reports that Governor Yusuf has reaffirmed his commitment to educational development in the State through various supports including scholarships as pledged during his campaign.
