The Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has paraded various contraband items seized within its areas of jurisdiction as part of intensified efforts by the command towards combating and eradicating smuggling within the zone and safeguarding public health.
The Area Comptroller, Dauda Ibrahim Chana During a handover ceremony of the various seized items at the Customs house, Bompai, Kano, to sister agencies concerned stated that the seizure is a testimony of the hard work put in place by gallant men and officers of the command in line with its mandate as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Chana, during the occasion on Wednesday, handed over 665 pieces of donkey skins to ACGQ AI Gano, Northwest Zonal Coordinator, Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services (NAQS), while 450 blocks of Cannabis Sativa was handed over to the State Commander, National Drugs and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as well as 1290 cartons of expired and unregistered pharmaceuticals released to the State Director, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Kassim Idrisa Ibrahim.
According to the Command’s Public Relation Officer (CPRO), SC Saidu Nuruddeen, the Compt. Dauda Ibrahim, added that the collaborative efforts between the Customs Service and these key government agencies demonstrate their commitment to upholding the rule of law, ensuring public safety, and protecting the integrity of the communities.
He further emphasized the importance of such joint efforts, stating, “The successful coordination and cooperation between our organization and our esteemed partner agencies exemplify our shared dedication to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all citizens. We remain resolute in our commitment to eradicating illegal activities that pose a threat to our society,” he added.

The various heads of the agencies present during the hand over expressed their gratitude for the continued support and collaboration, highlighting the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing complex challenges.
The Kano/Jigawa Customs’ Boss extended its appreciation to the public for their ongoing support and cooperation on behalf of his command adding that “We remain committed to fostering strong partnerships with government agencies, stakeholders, and the community at large to ensure the safety and well-being of all”.
He warned that those who are into illegal businesses of smuggling would not be spared as the command’s dogged officers are always out to ensure that only goods and other items approved by the Federal Government for importation are allowed into the country and the two states under its command.
