Tax reform looms in Kano as Gov Yusuf receives IGR report

Reforms to improve collection efficiency and broadening of the tax revenue base of Kano State may be underway as the Task Force on Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, submitted its report to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

A statement signed by the chief press secretary to the Governor, Sanusi Bature, said that the final report on IGR was presented at the Government House on Monday.

He noted that the Task Force was set up by the Governor in June with a view to review the State Internally Generated Revenue and Tax Consultancy Services.

“The Governor also inaugurated the State Standing Committee on Enhancement of Revenue and directed for the immediate implementation of the Task Force report.

“The Committee has Prof. Ibrahim Magaji Barde as Chairman, Abdulkadir Abdussalam (Accountant General), Sani Abdulkadir Dambo (Chairman KIRS), Habu Muhammad Fagge (Executive Chairman PensionBoard) , Dr. Hamisu Sadi Ali (DG Dept Management Office), Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu) DG Bureau of Statistics, Aminu Shuaibu, (SSA Revenue), Ali Kankarofi, Dr. Abubakar Usman Muazu, Jamila M. Abdullahi, Zainab Abdulkadir, Ibrahim Bawa as members while Dr. Aliyu Ismail Danmaraya as the secretary.

“The Governor enjoined the standing committee work diligently in the interest of the state to ensure significant improvement in the revenue generation,” Sanusi said.
